Filming Blog: Back on Track



We finally got a day where we all could meet up. It was a hassle, but we cleared up our schedule to get this done. The whole redo of us trying to re-record the scenes has us a bit annoyed. But we all knew that we had to follow through with this plan. Since we are reaching the end of the filming process. We are all enjoying each other company as we don't know when we can meet up after this. We are all so busy and whenever we meet up to record it is always so relaxing to be with them. They have a certain energy where it just comes naturally whenever we record and I enjoy it. But the filming that we are doing is within the house. We started by filming a bird's eye view over a box with a flicking light over it. This process took us a while for one simple reason. We couldn't find a way to get the birds-eye view without getting ourselves in the shot. Our shadows kept getting in the frame and it was noticeable to the point where your eyes kept looking at it without realizing. As a result, we end up finding a ladder and using it to get the shot. With the use of the ladder, the shot came out how we hoped for. The following shots after that were super straightforward and simple to record. There were a couple scenes where we recorded outside with the proper lighting coming through for us. The scenes inside were overall really simple and the easiest to record so far. The establishing shot we had in front of the house was the only shot that was also easy. Overall I feel confident with the shots we got done and I'm pretty excited to get this back on track.

After a big meeting that me and my group mates had within our group. We made up our day of when we were going to start recording. We all made time by cutting something we would do on Saturday to meet up to start the filming for this music video. I'm leaving early at the school where I am a teacher assistant at to go to the area where we are going to record. During the meeting that we had we finalized the areas that we were going to record. A taxi driving through an urban city with extreme close-ups of the main character. 3 - How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? The outset establishes a feeling of the genre through the use of neon and the overall design contributes to the film while also getting the NYC feel from the 1970s.

For the commercial project, I wanted to show the things that made me into the person I am today. That's why the first photo was from the first ever quince I was in. This was around when I was 12 and didn't know how to dance. When I was practicing for the quince, I was nervous that I would mess up the whole performance. But when the day came, all of my partners I was training with reassured me that we would give it our all for this moment. Even if we did mess up, we still had to pull through for the performance and, most importantly, before anything to enjoy ourselves. If you enjoy yourself, the dance will come out how you want it to. You have to feel the rhythm of the music. On that day, during the group waltz and the surprise dance, I gained a new appreciation for art I thought I wouldn't associate myself with.
