Filming Blog: The Do-Over



We went back to start with the recording process since while we started editing the video's audio could have been better. So we decided to rerecord some scenes again. We went to Lucas's house to discuss our issues and what we could improve on the mistakes we did before. As a result, we came up with a plan and decided to change the end a little by tweaking a couple of things around. But the first step we had to do was to find a place to record. Where Lucas's house is there's a McDonald's that my friend works at and we decided to test our luck by going there to record the restaurant scene. By chance one of my friends happened to be working at that time and with him being there he also happened to be the manager. I had a talk with him to explain our situation and asked him if we could record within the establishment. After some reconsideration he allowed us to record. While we were there we tried to get everything situated with the audio. Lucas came up with the idea of the voice memo app to be used while we were recording and then later added it to it when editing. So we went with it. It took us a little while to get it right. With many shots taking and do-overs. But when we finally got the shots right. The final product was like how we imagined it. For the following scenes, we were driving at a slow speed to ensure our own safety while driving. I was on the passenger side and Lucas was on the driver's side driving at a safe speed while I was recording him to get the shot. We had to stop the recording session short since Lucas had to leave someplace with his parents and called it a day. Overall the day was a fun day and we got to finish the hardest park. We gotta get together to finish the recording.

So after we all had someone review our film we went on a FaceTime call to discuss what was our issues with the film. We realized we all had the same issue with the film it didn't make sense at certain points throughout the film. So we made up a date on when we all could meet up at Lucas's house to give the film more of a linear progression and less complicated. So when I first got to Lucas's place it was me and him so we decided on where each of the shots was going to take place and with what camera angles we were going to use. So me and Lucas decided to shoot our first shot. The first shot that we shot was of Lucas's character calling up Chris's character to talk on to meet up. The only issue with this shot was that from the location that I was recording. I couldn't pick up what Lucas was saying for the shot. Playing a part

So our filming session is finally done. I have never been so relieved of doing something in my life. As I stated before, both my groupmates agreed to the terms I have talked about. But they are planning to record more content on Thursday. They are trying to get more shots that relate to the research we did. The shot we are trying to recreate is the low-angle shot of the shoes while they're dancing. This shot was shown in only one of the videos we watched. But this shot was a shot that I really really liked. Something about it just piqued my interest. The rawness of the shot and how it was shown was something that stuck with me. Besides that, even if I wasn't there for the shoot. I made it up by giving them a list of the shots and how I wanted them to be recorded. From the results I got I'm overall happy with the outcome of these shots. The only downside to the recordings we have is the quality. Filming Blog: The end and start of something

On the second day of filming, we filmed the rest of the needed scenes that we needed for the final project. For these final scenes, it was straightforward as all we know is that the only way to get these shots was to clash our ideas to make them. To achieve this we had to get creative if we didn't then it wouldn't come out like we would like to. So the part I had to play was once again of the cameraman and I didn't mind being the cameraman again. Being the cameraman so far has been something I have become more appreciative of. When I was filming before I never realized how hard it was to do the simple task of holding the camera and not have it shake. I truly became invested in the behind-the-scenes filming and the art that comes with that. As for me and the crew it took forever to get a proper shot and not have it shake.
